Artists I like: Hellobaby

So for a long long time Hellobaby was my favourite artist, she's still one of them and by far my favourite using coloured pencil. I'll let you have a look at her work before I continue:

I imagine what I love about these are pretty obvious, all the detail for one and Hellobaby still manages to keep the important parts clear and understandable, I've seen a fair few artists put so much time and work into their detail and everything gets lost in it.
I adore details like hers and I wish so so badly that doing something as intricate as this wouldn't bore me to death. Even just the few patterns on my current painting is pushing my limit, here what I love and what I'm willing to create are unfortunately too different.

When I first found out about Hellobaby I still considered coloured pencils to be a a block colour fill in tool that required you to press as hard as you could and brake the lead of every pencil. You got one colour from each pencil, you didn't really mix unless you had to and you didn't just add subtle touches of colour to things.....
Even her black and whites have this ever so subtle hint to the skin....I love the subtle colours, I love the subtle mixing in an aria of different colours to make one you can't quite name.Nothing is pushed to being as fully saturated as possible, probably the most saturated bits in most of her drawings are only at most half of how far the pencil could go.

Finding out about her artwork completely changed the way little me thought about colour but even then I didn't mix the colours the way she does, just used a lighter touch. It would be nice to have a go at coloured pencils again...see what I can do with a bit of thought now.

Also that's me back at my flat. Tomorrow you should be able to see some more work on my current painting and I'll edit the photos I put up here to make everything clearer.
