Finished DeeCon mascot

Once I decided on the final colours and added in little details like eye colour I started working on the side view.

I originally sketched out both a side and back view but decide I wouldn't have enough time for the back view as well and that the side view showed enough of the back details that it would probably be okay.

The side view still took a while to digitally draw the line art out for but at least I'd mostly shaken off the rust from avoiding digital for so long. In comparison the colour was so much quicker for the side view since all the decisions had been made.... Though it still took till 2am to finally email them the design.

I really really hope I win, it might have been a bit silly to spend time just before the winter holidays to work on this but a table at DeeCon costs a bit more than I can afford right now and one of the prizes for winning this is a free table to sell at. From what I've counted on Facebook there's only about 20 people entering.... add in some people who didn't say they were going to enter and say get maybe 30 people entering? 1 in 30...I think I have a chance there, since it's an all ages competition hopefully a third of them will make boring designs? I just hope I didn't make her costume too complex for a mascot....

Ah well, we'll see. Wish me luck. :)

My next project I'm not sure how much I'll actually be able to show you. I'm working on a comic with Terrier Studios (their site seems to be down so I'll link to their Facebook.) Obviously I'm not going to be able to post the finished pages online since we aim to sell the comic in the real world but I'll have to ask and see if I can post up the character designs and maybe some work in progress...might even be able to post up the first finished page as a teaser, we'll see.

What I'm pretty sure I can say about it..... it should be between 7 to 12 pages long, there will be other stories in the comic too, and it's based on one of the more obscure stories by a famous horror writer.
Loads of mad people, loads of interesting character designs, hopefully loads of fun. :)

However since I'm working on this I will have less time to work on other stuff which I'm fine with but means I'll have less to blog about....may end up having a lot of those 'artists I like' posts. I've go a fair but of time to work on this though so I should be able to do some other art in between pages, just not quite as much.
